Maurine Molak
Maurine co-founded David’s Legacy Foundation in 2016 after her 16-year-old son, David, died by suicide after experiencing months of relentless and threatening cyberbullying. The year prior to his death, David struggled with an addiction to social media and online gaming, which led to severe anxiety and depression.
After David’s death, Maurine worked with Texas legislators to pass “David’s Law,” which provided tools to address cyberbullying through the Education, Civil and Criminal codes. In the years following, she continued her advocacy with the successful passage of suicide prevention, digital citizenship requirements, online harms prevention, and cell-phone free schools’ legislation. Her current advocacy efforts are on Capitol Hill, where she is advocating for the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA).
In early 2024 Maurine co-founded Parents for Safe Online Spaces (ParentsSOS), an educational initiative for survivor parents who have lost children to online harms. Thanks to the courage and leadership of ParentsSOS members, KOSA passed in the Senate with a 91–3 vote in July 2024 but ultimately stalled in the House. ParentsSOS ignited a movement and has reignited its fight to get KOSA passed this year, with a version of KOSA passed in the U.S. House in June and a strong U.S. Senate bill with 76 co-sponsors.

Rebecca Hove
Rebecca has 25 years’ experience in global and community impact. She specializes in philanthropic consulting for donors and foundations, focusing on strategy design, succession planning, and systems change initiatives.
Ms. Hove has advocated against human trafficking since 1996, addressing sex trafficking, forced labor, bonded labor, child soldiers, and modern slavery domestically and internationally. Previously, she served as Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Bridgeway Foundation and Vice President at Excellence in Giving. Her nonprofit experience includes six years in operations roles at a multinational NGO. She holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees from Duke University in Sociology and Spanish, plus a Certificate in Markets and Management.
Minal Patel Davis, J.D., M.B.A.
Following a 20+ year career across public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Davis established HeneKom Group to integrate human rights policy. She founded Houston’s Mayor’s Office of Human Trafficking and chaired the HOU26 Men’s FIFA World Cup Host Committee’s human rights efforts.
She formulated Houston’s human trafficking strategic plan after speaking with 250 stakeholders in six months and created what Polaris Project called the first comprehensive municipal response to trafficking. Davis replicated this model through immersion programs for mayors nationwide and internationally via the U.S. Department of State. As FIFA Human Rights Chair, she coordinated 120 stakeholders across eight human rights domains.
The White House awarded her the Presidential Medal for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons. She serves on Verité’s board and earned her J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut and B.A. in political science from New York University.
Joe Madison
After 25 years in oil and gas strategic sales, Madison committed to combating human trafficking full-time in 2016. He founded Demand Disruption in 2020, building on Love People Not Pixels’ work. The organization fights trafficking demand by eliminating buyer motivation and reducing exploited access.
Over the past decade, Madison has worked in brothels, collaborated with law enforcement, counseled government leaders, testified on legislation, assisted survivor transport, and engaged with exploited individuals and traffickers. “To stop trafficking we must confront the truths about the demand that fuels it.”
His accomplishments include serving on Governor Abbott’s Child Sex-Trafficking Team task force, contributing expert testimony for eight anti-trafficking bills in Texas, and receiving the 2022 Crime Stoppers Houston Heroes Fenner Weller Award. He is a 32-year husband, father of three, and native Houstonian.
Caroline Roberts, J.D.
Roberts advocates for child-focused policies at Children at Risk as General Counsel and Senior Director of Public Policy. She earned her B.A. in psychology from Duke University and J.D. from New York University School of Law.
She leads the organization’s human trafficking and opportunity youth initiatives in an effort to ensure that all Texas children and young adults are safe, secure, and enjoy equitable opportunities.
Timeka Walker, LMSW
An innovative nonprofit leader with over 20 years experience, Walker demonstrates commitment to serving vulnerable and marginalized populations with dignity. Prior to anti-trafficking work, she served vulnerable youth, HIV-positive homeless individuals, and those with addiction and mental illness, holding various program, operations, administration, and finance roles.
As the CEO of United Against Human Trafficking since 2015, Timeka passionately leads the organization in its efforts to offer trauma-informed programming as a unifying force in the anti-trafficking movement. She earned her Licensed Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and Executive Leadership Certification from Rice University.
